The major theme of this novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, is the human instinct of good within the civilization and evil within the savagery. On one side, people tries to help others to make better situation, and tries be peaceful. But on the other side, people wants to overwhelm others, being selfish, and disturb others to get what they need. In the Lord of the Flies, it shows how kids changes in a nature condition where no adults are exist and no such things like rules are exist to find their own ways to survive in the remote island. As time passes, some kids, for example Jack, shows selfishness and savage side of human instinct and go wild, not thinking deeply and do whatever he want to overwhelm others to have power and have control of others. But opposite of that, there are also some kids, for example Ralph, that do not go wild and trying to help each other to survive from the island. I think place where good is exist, evil is exist along the good. I think this theme is important to a teenagers because it shows the importance of depth of the thinking. Nowaday teenagers usually do not think deeply enough and just take in the action. Since teenagers do not think deeply enough and act, they are easily to make mistakes and be regretful, so teenagers should think deeply enough and take in the action before evil overwhelm the teenagers and make them savage.
